Since April 2, 1900 when nine Seattle butchers formed Local 81, this
Union has been representative of retail, wholesale meat and seafood
craftsmen. Today, we are a Union of over 2000 members, still representative
of retail, wholesale, and seafood craftsmen and craftswomen, but also
members in the garment, warehousing, drivers, and metal finishing
industries. There has been one common thread: a membership that has been
defiantly militant and independent in advancing their trade skills, working
